Our Management Process

THE NATURE OF OUR BUSINESS REQUIRES ALL THAT WE DO TO BE CLOSELY SUPERVISED AT ALL TIMES TO MINIMISE RISK. THIS INCLUDES ENSURING THAT WE ARE FULLY COMPLIANT WITH ALL ASPECTS OF LEGISLATION AND ENCOURAGING ALL EMPLOYEES TO BE ACTIVELY INVOLVED WITH HEALTH AND SAFETY AS AN INTEGRAL PART OF OUR BUSINESS PERFORMANCE.

Bespoke System

We have invested in a purpose built management information system that enables us to manage and control all contractors. This is a significant investment that guarantees effective tracking mechanisms and assessment processes above and beyond any off-the-shelf software package.

In addition to generating critical management information, the system records and analyses:

On-site Assessors

Using the information held in the management system, we then have a set procedure for managing crane operators that is supported by the MPS on-site assessors. This includes:

  • Providing written confirmation of all placements prior to operational pre-start checks.
  • Assessing all operators on individual cranes to ensure skill, knowledge and understanding as required by BS7121 Safe Use of Cranes Section C.9.6.
  • Weekly checks of medical records and CPCS cards.
  • Frequent drug and alcohol testing on a random basis.
  • 24 hour telephone support with access to stand-by operators.
  • Weekly timesheets and accurate records of downtime.

At MPS, we also provide operators with a company specific handbook which outlines our Health and Safety policies and Personal Protective Equipment to specific site requirements.

We work hard to ensure that all employees are aware of company procedures and understand that non-compliance can result in disciplinary action. Accurate records are kept at all times and appropriate preventative and protective measures are always taken when needed.

This accreditation includes the provision of skilled crane operators and other crane/lifting industry personnel to the construction and civil engineering industries.

CITB and City Guilds Approved Provider

We are also accredited by the construction industry training board (CITB) and City and Guilds as an approved provider of training and assessment for cranes and lifting.

We are members of Construction Online and approved by Safety Management Advisory Services Ltd (SMAS) who are full members of the Safety Scheme In Procurement (SSIP).
